Whitney Houston found dead in hotel

wc
(Reuters) - Whitney Houston, whose soaring voice lifted her to the top of the pop music world but whose personal decline was fueled by decades of drug use, died on Saturday in a Beverly Hills hotel room. She was 48.

Her death came on the eve of the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles and at the same hotel where her mentor, record mogul Clive Davis, was holding an annual pre-event party at which she was scheduled to perform. A dramatic scene unfolded at the Beverly Hilton Hotel as music celebrities arriving for the party expressed shock at her death, while reporters swarmed the hotel and fans gathered to pay their respects.

A Beverly Hills police officer told reporters they were called to the Beverly Hilton at around 3:20 p.m. PST and that emergency personnel found Houston's body in a fourth-floor room, and she was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. The cause of death is under investigation.

"She has been positively identified by friends and family (who) were with her at the hotel, and next of kin have already been notified," Lieutenant Mark Rosen told reporters. Police said there were no obvious signs of criminal intent.

Tributes poured in from around the world for a singer whose remarkable vocal range produced some of the most memorable music of her generation, including her signature hit, "I Will Always Love You."

"Whitney Houston was not only an amazing artist but also a beautiful person. She was so smart and her knowledge and appreciation for the musical art form was remarkable," Motown founder and R&B legend Berry Gordy said in a statement.

Neil Portnow, president of the Recording Academy, which runs the Grammys, said event producers were working on ways to honor the singer in front of her many friends in the audience. Standing on the red carpet outside the hotel, Portnow told Reuters they would "try to celebrate her life," and called Houston a "one of a kind singer" whose body of work was "staggering."

Throughout her decades in music, Houston won six Grammys, 30 Billboard awards and 22 American Music Awards. She released seven studio albums, sold some 170 million CDs, singles and videos that included smash hits "Saving All my Love for You."

She also appeared in the movies "Bodyguard" (1992), "Waiting to Exhale" (1995) and "The Preacher's Wife" (1996). Houston was inspired to sing as a child by soul singers in her New Jersey family, including mother Cissy Houston and cousins Dionne Warwick and the late Dee Dee Warwick. Her godmother was Aretha Franklin.

"I just can't talk about it now," Franklin said in a statement. "It's so stunning and unbelievable. I couldn't believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen. My heart goes out to Cissy, her daughter Bobbi Kris, her family and Bobby (Brown)."

STELLAR CAREER, PERSONAL TROUBLES
By the early 1990s, Houston reigned as the queen of pop, but her critical and commercial success on stage was accompanied by an increasingly troubled personal life. In 1992 she married singer Bobby Brown, who had a bad-boy reputation, and their tumultuous 14 years together were marred by drug abuse and domestic violence.

In 2000, she and Brown were stopped at an airport in Hawaii and security guards discovered marijuana in their luggage. In a 2002 TV interview, she admitted using marijuana, cocaine, alcohol and prescription drugs.

The pair also starred in a reality TV series, "Being Bobby Brown," which painted an often unflattering portrait of the couple. The last 10 years of Houston's life were dominated by drug use, rumors of relapses and trips to rehab.

She launched a comeback tour in 2009, and in April 2010 she called media reports she was using drugs again "ridiculous." In May 2011, Houston enrolled in a drug and alcohol rehab program. Despite her personal troubles she commanded great affection among her music industry colleagues, and emotional tributes flooded the media in the hours after news broke of her death.

"I am absolutely heartbroken at the news of Whitney's passing," legendary music producer Quincy Jones said in a statement. "... I always regretted not having had the opportunity to work with her. She was a true original and a talent beyond compare. I will miss her terribly."

Pop star Rihanna posted on Twitter "No words, just tears," and rapper Nicki Minaj tweeted "Jesus Christ, not Whitney Houston. Greatest of all time."

Angelina Jolie ‘fan of Swinton’

wc
Angelina Jolie thinks Tilda Swinton is a “fascinating role model”. The two stars spent much of the recent Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards deep in conversation. Angelina is said to be in awe of Tilda’s offbeat career and loves how she stays true to herself in Hollywood.

“She said she especially loves Tilda’s ‘up yours’ attitude toward the establishment and sees her as a fascinating role model. Angie’s totally entranced by her and no wonder – Tilda’s had her hair share of controversies,” a source told National Enquirer.

Both Angelina and Tilda are renowned for being different to the Hollywood ideal. Angelina famously once kissed her brother in public and has dated at least one woman in the past. Tilda’s romantic life has also hit the headlines, with suggestions she has lived with both her husband and lover. She denied the allegations, and Angelina is said to be impressed with how she handled herself.

“Angelina loves… her edgy, open attitude to sex, life and even her career,” the insider added.
“Now that Angie’s keen to get into more indie films, she’s obsessed with modelling herself on older actresses and would kill to co-star with Tilda.”

Kendall and Kylie Jenner Talk Style, Their Sisters, and Being Normal in Hollywood

wc
It's hard enough being a teenager, let alone one whose life is played out on TV for millions of people every week -- oh, and whose older sisters just happen to be the mega-famous Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian.

But Kendall and Kylie Jenner have managed to maintain level heads despite the paparazzi, modeling gigs, and millions of Twitter followers. Their secret? "They are so down-to-earth," Kim tells Teen Vogue of the magazine's March cover girls. "It's just who they are, and they will never change."

It helps that Kendall, 16, and Kylie, 14, both attend school regularly and are involved in extracurricular activities, which for Kendall includes cheerleading. "We had a [football] game," she tells the TV interviewer excitedly. "We won. We're undefeated so far." The willowy teen also jokes that her friends on the squad refer to her as "Cheer Mom" because "when we make those big banners for football games, I'm the one to say, 'Do this, do that; use this color, use that color.' Not, like, in a mean way. But I just like things in order. I'm a perfectionist."

Being the youngest two in an extended family that includes 10 children (dad Bruce has four from two previous marriages, plus mom Kris' four with ex Robert Kardashian), Kendall and Kylie also have plenty of watchful eyes following their every move -- so they can't really act out even if they wanted to. "[They] are like my babies," says Khloe. "I literally raised them, and I make sure I'm still very involved in their lives. I have access to all of their social media outlets. They are not allowed to have Twitter or Facebook unless I have the password. I'm very protective, but in doing that they also feel like they can talk to me about anything, and they do."

Another perk of having all those famous sisters: designer hand-me-downs. During the interview, Kendall sports a pair of jeans outgrown by her sister Kourtney. And there's plenty of brand new clothes, too, which they house in their recently-remodeled closets described as "posh boutiques, each one nearly the size of a New York City studio apartment … think rows of shoes, walls of jewelry, dozens of purses, bins of scarves and beanies, and drawers that hold enough sunglasses to make Rihanna jealous."

But when it comes to their personal styles, the two sisters could not be more different. "Kylie is more rocker, and Kendall is more tomboyish," says Kim. And that's obvious when the girls show off their favorite pieces in their closets. "I like to be comfortable and casual," shares Kendall as she holds up a dress from H&M and a leather jacket, while Kylie proudly shows off a pair of sky-high studded Christian Louboutins heels. "I'm more laid-back than Kylie," notes Kendall. "In school, I'll wear jeans, a sweatshirt, and Uggs, and she'll wear, like, this whole ensemble that she put together the night before."

Despite the differences in their personalities and style, the teenage sisters get along surprisingly well. But it wasn't always that way. "We used to fight, like, three times a day," Kendall reveals. "We'd punch each other, kick each other, pull each other's hair. It was so bad." Now the two are learning to enjoy each other's company -- and that of their huge family. "I love having so many people you can turn to," smiles Kendall. Adds Kylie, "You always have someone there for you."

The Most Notorious Kisses of All Time

There are famous kisses that raise pulses and there are famous kisses that raise eyebrows. The following eight lip locks fall into the latter category, acting as great water-cooler fodder and moments we will never forget.
wc

The jaw-dropping highlight of the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards was when Madonna and Britney Spears locked lips after performing "Like a Virgin." Interestingly enough, Madonna planted a big kiss on Christina Aguilera right after Spears, but since the camera didn't catch it, people watching at home were none the wiser.
wc
After winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the 2000 Oscars, Angelina Jolie planted a big wet one on her brother and date for the evening, James Haven. In case that wasn't enough to stir the gossip pot, later that evening, Jolie also revealed that she was "in love with" Haven.
wc
After secretly tying the knot, Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley made their first public appearance as a couple at the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards. And to really prove just how deep in love they were, they treated the audience to a long and awkward kiss. "And just think, nobody thought this would last," Jackson announced to the crowd after the smooch.
wc
As Adrien Brody bounded onstage to collect his Academy Award for Best Actor in 2003, he surprised presenter Halle Berry by pulling her into a passionate embrace and kissing her right on the mouth. The celebrity crowd went absolutely wild!
wc
When newlyweds Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, followed royal tradition by sharing their first kiss as husband and wife on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, it was the kiss heard round the world. And as if that wasn't enough, they kissed again (unprecedented!) just two minutes later!
wc
After a particularly creepy wedding ceremony featuring Michael Jackson and Liz Taylor, Liza Minnelli and David Gest shared a cringe-worthy kiss that was played over and over on cable news shows for days. The odd couple separated less than a year and a half later.
wc
After introducing Al Gore at the 2000 Democratic Convention, the presidential nominee surprised the world-and his wife Tipper-when he pulled her into a passionate embrace and vigorously kissed her. Instead of shedding his stiff politician image, the kiss ended up grossing out more than just a few voters.
wc
Sandra Bullock took Meryl Streep's breath away after an impromptu open-mouth kiss at the 2010 Critic's Choice Awards after presenter Bradley Cooper announced they had tied for the Best Actress award. Though it caused quite a stir at the time, the media dropped it after it was revealed that Sandra's husband at the time had been cheating on her for years.

‘Amazing Spider-Man’ footage teased for fans

wc
"The Amazing Spider-Man" dropped in on hundreds of fans Monday. Sony Pictures teased the latest incarnation of the web-slinging superhero, which doesn't arrive in U.S. theaters until July 3, at preview events held Monday at movie theaters in 13 cities spanning the globe, including Mexico City, Berlin, Rome, Paris and Moscow, with the cast and filmmakers appearing in Los Angeles, New York, Rio de Janeiro and London.

The event began with the debut of the 3-D full-length "Amazing Spider-Man" trailer, which will hit theaters this weekend and debut online Wednesday. The trailer featured footage of Andrew Garfield as a charmingly awkward Peter Parker being bullied at school, testing out his new web-slinging gadgets and battling the villainous Lizard high above New York.

"I think there are a lot of things from the Spider-Man canon that haven't yet been explored cinematically," said director Marc Webb in Los Angeles. "This movie really starts off with Peter Parker and his parents, which is something we've never really seen before, and I think that was something we were all really interested in exploring as filmmakers."

Garfield, who appeared in New York, said Spider-Man is more than just a character. He's a symbol that was once portrayed by Tobey Maguire and now by himself, and he hoped the next person to play the crime-fighting superhero would be a "half-Hispanic, half African-American actor," referencing the latest incarnation of the character in the comic books.

Emma Stone, who plays love interest Gwen Stacey, told fans in Rio de Janeiro that Stacey and Mary Jane Watson, Parker's girlfriend portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in the previous films, are "polar opposites," while Rhys Ifans said in London that his character, Dr. Curt Connors, who becomes the Lizard, has "a very complex and emotional" link to Parker.

After the cast addressed fans, Webb unveiled extended 2-D footage from the film peppered with music from the Rolling Stones and Coldplay. The scenes included Parker asking Stacey out on a date, Spider-Man humorously blasting a car thief with webs and the one-armed Dr. Connors telling Parker that "your father and I were going to change the lives of millions."

Julia Roberts has ‘timeless couture look’

wc
Julia Roberts created a “timeless couture look” at the Oscars in 2001, her hairstylist has revealed. Serge Normant was behind the actress’s gorgeous hair creation on the night of her big win over a decade ago.

The style oozed Hollywood glamour and was more than perfect for the moment when all eyes were on the Erin Brockovich star as she collected her trophy. “It was a great moment when Julia won her Oscar in 2001. The hair kind of happened. It wasn’t overly planned and we ended up with this gorgeous, timeless couture look,” Serge told the UK edition of Glamour.

The celebrity hair expert also named his favourite style of all time. Normant said he was so impressed by French actress Catherine Deneuve’s crowning glory in 1967 movie Belle De Jour, he put up the film’s poster in his apartment.

Very blonde and voluminous, the top section of her locks is swept-back to show off her gorgeous features. “I love Catherine Deneuve’s look in Belle De Jour – in fact, the only picture hanging on my wall in my downtown NYC salon is an original poster from the movie,” he revealed.

Celebs suit up for DirecTV Beach Bowl

wc
Deion Sanders said he wasn't worried. Joe Montana went in with his game face on and Jordin Sparks just hoped sand did not end up in her eyes. Athletes and celebrities had different strategies as they prepared to play in the sixth annual DirectTV Celebrity Beach Bowl.

The event teams up stars with former and current professional athletes for a flag football game on the sand. Assistant coach Neil Patrick Harris admitted he didn't know much about the game, so he was going to rely on his teammates to make the calls.

"I really am not competitive at all. I quite frankly don't know what is going to happen or what we are playing," the actor said with a smile. "I know it is football of some sort, but it might be flag football, touch, two-handed touch. I don't know."

Lucky for him, legend Joe Montana was on his team. "I hate to lose," Montana said ahead of the game. "I am not very good at losing. You try to go into this as it's going to be a fun game, but as soon as you get involved ... if they score, you go, 'OK.' You have got to at least keep it competitive.

I can't just go through the motions. I want to win." Sparks, arrived with her dad, Phillippi Sparks, a former New York Giants football player. The former "American Idol" champion says she wasn't expecting intense action.

"I know it is not tackle. They are just grabbing the flag, but who knows, we could get tripped up and stuff, so I am glad there is sand," she said. "I am nervous about it getting in my eyes if I fall but other than that, it is going to be a lot of fun. I am excited. "

As for the other big game in Indianapolis, former Dallas Cowboys star Sanders said he would not pick the New England Patriots or the New York Giants to win on Sunday.

"I am a former player. I am not rooting for anybody. I just want a good quality game. I just want the fans to be entertained for three and a half hours. I want Madonna to come out and do the doggone thing like she can do it," he said of her halftime performance.

Other big names at the event included Peyton Manning, Chace Crawford, Cam Newton, Terrell Owens and David Arquette, who said he's been having a great time in Indianapolis.

"What I really like about Super Bowl in general is that it introduces you to another city," he said. "Indianapolis is a beautiful city a lot of people might not know about or have not visited. To come here and to meet the people and see the city, that is my favorite part actually."

Ne-Yo Gets Playboy Bunny Treatment At Super Bowl Pre-Game Party

wc
Ne-Yo's regular background dancers had the night off Saturday when the R&B singer and songwriter played a midnight show at the Playboy Presents Carnival Mystique Super Bowl pre-game party. But he apparently didn't mind. The Bud Light Hotel venue go-go dancers sufficed. Plus, Playboy Bunnies joined him on stage between songs to kiss him and wipe off his sweat.

"I think I'm going to have to call [Hugh Hefner] and see if a couple can come with me," he joked. "My life sucks." Ne-Yo sang live to track and danced during his 40-minute set that focused on his mid-tempo and dance records, "Beautiful Monster," "Sexy Love," "Closer," and "Tonight."

He even dedicated a song to the bunnies. Before performing "Miss Independent," he described it as a record he had unknowingly written about the ladies, women who can do it for themselves, "and don't need anybody's help."

Surprisingly, he gave a fan the mic and let her sing a few lyrics of "Tonight." Afterwards, he teased her, frowning in response her off-key crooning. Before closing, he told the Super Bowl crowd that he was a fan of contenders, the New York Giants. They cheered, and booed when he acknowledged the New England Patriot fans in the house.

The party was to capacity, including numerous celebs, "Diners, Drive-in and Drives" host Guy Fieri, former "Gossip Girl" actress Jessica Szohr, "Brothers & Sisters" actor Dave Annable, NFL analyst Marshall Faulk, actor Scott Wolfe, "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush, Houston Texans running back Arian Foster, LMFAO, Shaquille O'Neal and ESPN host Scott Van Pelt.

Pilot Prince William in Falklands for 6-week tour

wc
(AP) — Prince William arrived in the Falkland Islands on Thursday for a six-week deployment as a search and rescue helicopter pilot, British officials said, amid an escalating sovereignty dispute with Argentina over the territory.

The Ministry of Defense confirmed that William, known in the service as Flight Lt. Wales, landed on the British outpost as part of a four-member Royal Air Force crew. It said William will assume his duties "shortly" following a period of briefings and a familiarization flight.

The prince's visit has riled Argentina, which claims the islands 290 miles (460 kilometers) off its coast that it calls Las Malvinas. Britain's defense ministry has insisted William's deployment is routine, but Argentina's foreign ministry likened the move to a conquistador's arrival.
wc
Britain and Argentina have been trading barbs in the run-up to the 30th anniversary of Argentina's April 1982 invasion. The 10-week war that followed ended in British victory and killed 650 Argentine troops, more than 250 British personnel and three islanders. Britain still maintains about 1,000 troops in the territory, whose 3,000 residents overwhelmingly wish to remain British.

Last month, Argentina persuaded Brazil, Uruguay and Chile to join a Mercosur trade group resolution to turn away any ship flying the Falklands' flag — which depicts a sheep and a ship along with the United Kingdom's red, white and blue Union Jack.

That action prompted British Prime Minister David Cameron to accuse Argentine President Cristina Fernandez of having "colonialist" aims on an island population that wants to remain a British dependency. She accused Cameron of "mediocrity bordering on stupidity."

Argentina's foreign ministry last week accused Britain of militarizing their sovereignty dispute by announcing that it is sending an advanced warship to the islands along with William "in the uniform of a conquistador."

Amanda Seyfried: "I'm Terrified of Being Promiscuous"

wc
Amanda Seyfried has been linked to the hottest guys in Hollywood Dominic Cooper, Ryan Phillippe and Alexander Skarsgard, to name a few but that doesn't mean she's sleeping around. "I'm terrified of being promiscuous," the Gone star tells the March issue of Glamour. "I don't like the feeling you get when it's not something that you truly want to do, and I hate the emotional abuse you give yourself afterward."

"It's just uncomfortable when you're with somebody and you're like, 'I don't really know if I'm even comfortable with this. Why did I? Eww!'" she continues. "I think dating can come without sex." (Ironically, Seyfried will portray '70s porn star Linda Lovelace in an upcoming biopic.)

Though she was recently linked to real estate exec Andrew Joblon (they've since split), Seyfried says Cooper, 33, was the last man she truly loved. "He was my last real boyfriend. We still joke about having kids, like, 'If it doesn't work out with other people, we might as well just have a child," Seyfried says. "And there's a part of that that feels. . .possible."

Seyfried, 26, says she thinks about kids "all the time," telling Glamour: "I feel like the next person I commit to, that's going to be the guy who I'm going to have kids with. That's in my crazy female brain. So that's why I'm like, 'I can't commit.'"

Spice Girls Reuniting for Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee

wc
The biggest girl group of the '90s is making a comeback! Spice Girls singer Melanie Brown revealed the band will be reuniting this summer during a recent interview on Australian TV -- but contrary to reports, it won't be for the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.

"I think the Queen's Jubilee concert is the event I'd be looking at more closely for that to happen," the 36-year-old said. Realizing she revealed too much, the singer quickly changed the subject. According to The Sun, Brown told TV crew members backstage: "I am going to be in such strife for saying that. It's all so totally bloody top-secret still."
wc
The "Scary" musician and her bandmates -- Victoria "Posh" Beckham, 37, Geri "Ginger" Halliwell, 39, Emma "Baby" Bunton, 36, and Melanie "Sporty" Chisholm, 38 -- last performed together during a reunion tour that kicked off in 2007.

"I'm always down for a Spice Girls reunion," Brown said. "I love the Scary hair and platforms. Any time of day or night I'll be there."

To mark 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, the Diamond Jubilee will take place on June 4, 2012. The group will perform in front of the royal family, including Prince William, 29, and Kate Middleton, 30.

Get Salma Hayek’s flawless look

wc
Salma Hayek’s make-up artist has revealed the tricks she uses to make the stars’s skin look “flawless.” The Latin beauty is renowned for being one of the most gorgeous women in Hollywood and although she is a natural beauty, the actress still gets a little help.

Beauty pro Kay Montano told Hello! Magazine the simple steps she takes when applying Salma’s make-up. “To make Salma’s skin look flawless and alive – and combat the effects of air travel – I apply peach-based foundations and concealers that are ideal for her Latin colouring,” she revealed.

“Salma has beautiful eyes. To get the classic matt-brown contoured eyes she likes, I combined a trio of Bobbi Brown Matt Eyeshadows in Sable, Mahogany and Grey, using the grey as a neutral base on the lid and blended into the crease.

“I then applied the mid-brown shade to the lid, taking it into the socket, with the mahogany used deep in the socket and around the lash line underneath both eyes.” And to give the Puss in Boots star her delectable pout, Kay only has to complete a few steps. “Salma’s naturally gorgeous lips need only to be outlined with a neutral lip liner that matches her colouring,” Kay said.

MICHAEL JACKSON HONORED BY HIS KIDS AND JUSTIN BIEBER IN HOLLYWOOD

wc
After a decades-long career filled with massive hits like "Bad" and "Thriller," you might think the late Michael Jackson had earned every award out there. Surprisingly, though, the King of Pop was only honored in front of Hollywood's famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Thursday during a ceremony featuring his three children. Prince, 14, Paris, 13, and Blanket, 9, used their father's signature shoes and glittery glove to leave his hand and foot prints in the famous sidewalk, alongside those of Marilyn Monroe, Fred Astaire, and many more.

And despite Michael's many other honors, son Prince noted that the star would have found this one meaningful. "My dad won the lifetime achievement award. It was an award he strived and worked the hardest to get but for me, and I think for him as well, this right here is his lifetime achievement award," Prince revealed. "This is what he strived to get and this is what we are giving him now today."
wc
Cast members from the new Cirque du Soleil show featuring Michael's music, "The Immortal World Tour," were on hand, as were MJ's mother Katherine, actor Chris Tucker, legendary musician Smokey Robinson, and teen dream Justin Bieber. After being introduced by Paris, the Biebs, who's always been a big fan of the "Smooth Criminal" singer, even said a few words about his idol.

"I don't usually get nervous, but I'm kind of a little nervous right now," Justin told the crowd. "Michael meant so much to me, I know that he meant a lot to you guys as well. He was more than entertainer. He was an inspiration. He was kind, gentle ... he was very charitable. People are going to remember him for his dancing and singing, but people have to remember him for being the man that he was. Everything I do ... I look at Michael, I want to be as good as he was."
wc
Justin also noted that he often sang "Rockin' Robin" in the mirror when he was "really little," and performed a verse a cappella for the crowd. Do you think Michael would approve of his rendition?

Looks like we'll never know. Unfortunately, as Justin revealed to "Access Hollywood," the two never crossed paths since the Canadian crooner was just beginning his career when Michael died in June 2009. "I basically released my first single the week he passed, so it was really unfortunate," Justin said. "So I feel like, it's just really sad. That was one person I really wanted to meet."

Demi Moore Hospitalized: Can Divorce Make You Sick?

wc
Beyond the gossip of Demi Moore's hospitalization, just two months after announcing her split from husband Ashton Kutcher, is the glaring reminder: divorce can make you sick. "Because of the stresses in her life right now,
Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health," said Moore's rep in a statement earlier this week.

A flurry of unconfirmed reports suggest her "exhaustion" is code for substance abuse and malnourishment. An eating disorder, a late-night 911 call, a seizure, a nitrous oxide binge, are the whispers around the web.

There's less talk about how the very public breakup of her marriage could be at the heart of her health problems. Not surprisingly, the effects of a broken heart take a physical toll. A review released this month by University of Arizona researchers found that divorced adults are at a higher risk of an early death than married adults. The effects of a split can be as harmful to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day, being overweight or drinking heavily, according to the report.

One 2006 study found that middle-aged women, in particular, are at a greater risk of cardiovascular disease than married women of the same age. Cancer and mobility issues have also been linked to the after-effects of a long-term romantic separation. But in the initial days and months after a divorce, the mental health risks are most threatening.

"When you are processing the ending of a marriage you are overcome with a variety of complex emotions--sorrow, anger, shame, fear," explains Rachel Sussman, a licensed psychotherapist and author of The Breakup Bible. "Sleep and one's ability to eat may be impacted by the sorrow and stress, [which in turn] may affect your overall health and cause you to get very run down."

A painful split is also grounds for a relapse of bad habits. Eating disorders, long-under control, may resurface in times of stress. Most notable, substance abuse is found in higher rates for women during a divorce than men, according to a WHO World Mental Health study.

Moore has touted her clean living lifestyle in the years after her early '80s rehab stint but anyone who has suffered from drug addiction knows the threat of relapse hovers in times of transition.

"Demi Moore is a recovering addict so for someone like her a divorce may indeed produce a relapse," Sussman tells Shine. "Addicts turn to substances for a variety of reasons including the need to mollify pain. It's a poor coping mechanism and will often produce the opposite effect than the one you are looking for."

While the WHO study found more women using substances as band-aids during divorce, men were more likely to become isolated and depressed. Kutcher might not be the shining example of that statistic. While Moore battles her demons, Kutcher's been parading around Brazil's fashion week and sucking on coconuts for his twitter followers.

To be clear, just because there are risk factors to divorce, staying in a troubled marriage isn't the healthy choice either. One University of Iowa study found that couples who weren't happy together had lower immune systems and took longer to heal than happily married spouses.

Sometimes, divorce is the only option. But setting a self-preservation game-plan doesn't end with finding an attorney. In searching online for the terms "divorce" and "health risks," you have to plow through alarmist warnings about the health risks for children of divorce before you can find anything about surviving as a parent.

Here's the short list of priorities to protect your mind and body during divorce: Exercise to prevent depression and keep your appetite and sleep patterns in check. Then commandeer your support system: family, friends, even therapists, and sponsors depending on your needs. "Deal with your grief head on," advises Sussman. "It hurts but better now than later."

Seal Opens Up About Split from Heidi Klum

wc
Seal has opened up to Ellen about his recent split from Heidi Klum, saying he was surprised by their separation. "I think we were shocked," Seal told Ellen in an episode set to air Tuesday January 24, 2012. "You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say 'I do' and
you say ''til death do us part.' Those vows hold value. They are not just words. These things happen." He added, "You just grow apart after awhile."
wc
Still, Seal says, Heidi is "the most wonderful woman in the world. I think our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other… It's a shame. To say that neither of us were grieving would be an out and out lie (and I don't mind telling you that)."
wc
As for wearing his wedding ring, he won't be taking it off just yet. "Yes, I am still wearing my ring," he pointed out. "I think it's just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman. We have eight years. Eight wonderful years together. Just because we have decided to separate doesn't necessarily mean you take off your ring and you're no longer connected to that person.
wc
We will be connected in many ways 'til the rest of our lives…. though our children and also through this tremendous admiration, respect and love that we have for each other. Will we wear the ring for the rest of our lives -- who knows? But right now it feels really comfortable on my hand so I have intentions of taking it off anytime soon."

Tattoos for Moms: why celebrity parents get inked

wc
Many mothers will carry pictures of their kids in their wallets, post photo albums on Facebook, wear jewelry with their children's birthstones or initials, or even put bumper stickers on their cars declaring there's a "baby on board." But the Daily Mail claims a new trend is emerging where proud moms are celebrating their kids—and their womanhood—through body art. Men have often paid tribute to their children through ink, but "mommy tattoos" are on the rise and female celebrities may be responsible for leading the trend.

Angelina Jolie displays love for her six children on her arm. The birthplaces of Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne (and last year she added Brad Pitt's) are written as earth coordinates covering up an old "Billy Bob" tattoo-the remnants of her old flame.
wc
Heidi Klum has husband Seal's name tattooed on her arm (pictured below), but they just announced they're separating, so that may get removed! Next to his name are four tattooed stars symbolizing the couple's children, Leni, Henry, Johan, and Lou. Remember: a spouse may be temporary, but children are forever.
wc
Likewise, Pamela Anderson once had "Tommy" (as in her ex, rocker Tommy Lee) etched on her ring finger, but after the romance failed she changed it to "Mommy," a name that will be more permanent in her life.
wc
Forget "tramp stamps." Julia Roberts has the names of her kids, Hazel, Phinnaeus, and Henry, tattooed on her lower back.
wc
Victoria Beckham has five stars tattooed on her back-one for her, one for husband David Beckham, and one for each of their three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz. Brooke Burke got the names of her four children tattooed on her wrist in cursive. Now Neriah, Sierra, Rain, and Shaya will always be with her. Mel B of the Spice Girls has a Phoenix on her arm as a tribute to daughter Phoenix Chi.

Let's face it--tattoos have a bad wrap. But that's because some people get them while intoxicated or choose symbols or characters in other languages without understanding their true meaning. Some people get random tattoos like a rose with no real meaning at all and later regret them. Others get caught up in passion and get a tattoo for their significant other that will last far longer than the courtship.

You know which tattoo most women wouldn't regret? One in honor of their children. Whether it's a tattoo of your kid's name, their birth date, their baby footprints, or their portrait, a mommy tattoo has a meaning that people can respect. Tastes change, and relationships end, but your kids will always be your kids no matter what.
