The jaw-dropping highlight of the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards was when Madonna and Britney Spears locked lips after performing "Like a Virgin." Interestingly enough, Madonna planted a big kiss on Christina Aguilera right after Spears, but since the camera didn't catch it, people watching at home were none the wiser.

After winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the 2000 Oscars, Angelina Jolie planted a big wet one on her brother and date for the evening, James Haven. In case that wasn't enough to stir the gossip pot, later that evening, Jolie also revealed that she was "in love with" Haven.

After secretly tying the knot, Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley made their first public appearance as a couple at the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards. And to really prove just how deep in love they were, they treated the audience to a long and awkward kiss. "And just think, nobody thought this would last," Jackson announced to the crowd after the smooch.

When newlyweds Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, followed royal tradition by sharing their first kiss as husband and wife on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, it was the kiss heard round the world. And as if that wasn't enough, they kissed again (unprecedented!) just two minutes later!

After a particularly creepy wedding ceremony featuring Michael Jackson and Liz Taylor, Liza Minnelli and David Gest shared a cringe-worthy kiss that was played over and over on cable news shows for days. The odd couple separated less than a year and a half later.

After introducing Al Gore at the 2000 Democratic Convention, the presidential nominee surprised the world-and his wife Tipper-when he pulled her into a passionate embrace and vigorously kissed her. Instead of shedding his stiff politician image, the kiss ended up grossing out more than just a few voters.

Sandra Bullock took Meryl Streep's breath away after an impromptu open-mouth kiss at the 2010 Critic's Choice Awards after presenter Bradley Cooper announced they had tied for the Best Actress award. Though it caused quite a stir at the time, the media dropped it after it was revealed that Sandra's husband at the time had been cheating on her for years.
